Who are we

Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ) was initially a national programme of Department of Science And Technology, Govt. of India that was organized in Assam State by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, Govt. of Assam in 1992. After the programme was over the State Organising Council, Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ), Assam was converted to a voluntary society and registered under the Society’s Registration Act 1860. The prime objectives of the BJVJ are to promote scientific temper among the masses, use science and technology as a vehicle for socio-economic transformation and building self-reliance, involving mass participation and to use the same as a unifying factor for national regeneration and international understanding.

BJVJ, Assam organized nature camps supported by DST, Govt. of India with active participation of students and teachers in Shillong in the year of 2002 and 2003

BJVJ, Assam has a strong network of 24 District Organizing Council (DOC) and 200 Local Organizing Council (LOC) in the various districts of Assam with a workforce of about 5000 science activities.

It is a programme sponsored by RVPSP, DST, Govt. of India. BJVJ

Assam has been organizing workshop for local folk artists and science communicator in Guwahati, Shillong and Agartala to identify the appropriate folk media for Science communication in the year 2004-05.

To create awareness among general people

To create awareness among general people BJVJ Assam has been organizing Public meeting, street drama, action song, exhibiting traffic utility products in various places of Assam since 1992 under this programme sponsored by Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways.

Under this UNDP/SGP programme 5 gardens have been established in Kamrup, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Nalbari and Tinsukia District in the year 2001.
