Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ) was initially a national programme of Department of Science And Technology, Govt. of India that was organized in Assam State by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, Govt. of Assam in 1992. After the programme was over the State Organising Council, Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ), Assam was converted to a voluntary society and registered under the Society’s Registration Act 1860. The prime objectives of the BJVJ are to promote scientific temper among the masses, use science and technology as a vehicle for socio-economic transformation and building self-reliance, involving mass participation and to use the same as a unifying factor for national regeneration and international understanding.
To build a society driven by scientific thinking, social responsibility, self-reliance, and sustainable development, enabling people to actively participate in national regeneration.
