About US

Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ) was initially a national programme of Department of Science And Technology, Govt. of India that was organized in Assam State by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, Govt. of Assam in 1992. After the programme was over the State Organising Council, Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ), Assam was converted to a voluntary society and registered under the Society’s Registration Act 1860. The prime objectives of the BJVJ are to promote scientific temper among the masses, use science and technology as a vehicle for socio-economic transformation and building self-reliance, involving mass participation and to use the same as a unifying factor for national regeneration and international understanding

What we do

The student activity focuses on capacity building through various initiatives. These include robotic applications, mathematics understanding, and real-life applications of subjects like chemistry and physics using low-cost teaching methods. Other programs encompass socio-economic development, health and sanitation, disaster preparedness, and communication of science through folk arts. Additionally, there are community health checkup camps, teacher workshops, animal and human health programs, nature camps, road safety awareness, and science exhibitions. These activities aim to enhance knowledge, awareness, and skills among students, teachers, and the general public.

Laboratory to Fields programme

Socio-economics development and  capacity building programme  for rural communities on Preparation of nursery, Medicinal plant planting at household , Banana plantations, areca nut   and coconut plantation , livestock ,  Horticulture Processing unit at village etc..  Our self-help groups are working well in this field

Empowering women on day to day health and household sanitation , Capacity building training/workshop on making Improve Chula for household .  Community meeting on awareness about environment ,  Socio-economics development and  capacity building ,health and sanitation.

Mobile Planetorium

Mobile Planetarium for Popularization of  astronomical science among the students and teachers  and to recognize that astronomical observations have profound       implications         for the development of the science, philosophy, culture and the general concept of the universe, understanding the different planet of the solar system.

Science Exhibition

The beginning of human civilization has been subject to great curiosity since its formation among the students in particular and the people in general. Science communication is a major activity in enhancing science literacy and promoting public understanding the basic science phanomana and hand to do activities which is applicable in day to day life .

TEACHER WORKSHOP

Teacher workshops and training for capacity building on  different subjects, which is easily demonstrate to students.  The workshop and training was on Physics, Chemistry, Microorganisms and activity workshop on  Low-cost-teaching –aids , Science –behind-Miracles. The programme was organised among different teacher group in Assam.

To popularize science, inculcate scientific temper and promote scientific endeavors in society as a liberative socio-cultural process and S&T inputs for rural development.

To generate conviction amongst the people that the fundamental problems being encountered can be solved through a humane, educational and scientific approach

To promote self-reliant, decentralized equitable and sustainable technological systems and developmental processes in the state and on this basis, help build up fraternal relationship with all the people of the North East in general and of Assam in particular

Organizational setup

Meanwhile, the 236 Local Organizing Councils spread across the state form the grassroots foundation, ensuring that BJVJ’s initiatives permeate even the remotest corners of Assam.
